2 peaces of art from the visit

vase made by wedgwood about 1800

The vase was made in Wedgwood which was  founded Josiah Wedgwood how was look down on by his family and was stopped from contributing to family business. The pottery was one of the most successful potteries. That made different types of vases using newer materials to make vases in stile of greek vases with greek myths images on the vases it dos seems to be telling a story thats why I decided to pike it to look in to it more as I think that it relates to comics in that matter that it presents some kind of scenario and I am interested in visual story telling and I think that because it is a vase it brings more attention. It would be nice to create something based to that type of vases i could make a vase out of clay bay shaping it with hands as  I don't have access to a (spin while?) equipment that would be used to make vases and after that i could paint it and also i could paint the characters on it but i think that would make them seem flat so i would rather carve them out I think that it could create some interesting art.The other idea I have from it would be making a comic with using vase drawings as cells and have it on a big scale and make it have a greek stile.

Hansom cab at saints
Adolphe Valette

a a scene of a hansom crab parked at Grosvenor square on Oxford Road in manchester. It is painted by Adolphe Valette in 1910 and the view is from Oxford road, facing west where a horse and cab dominate the centre of the composition a white horse is being fead from a nosebag as it rest and it has a blanket over its back. there is also some people around just doing casual things. I like the painting because of the stile it has I like how it has a slightly distorted/dissolved look to it and it ruth details that looks really good in my opinion.I could use that kind of stile for a animation or a comic thanks to it small amount of details it can be faster to create frames that are messy but are looking good.

producing the animation problems

when we were producing our animation we have run to one problem mainly the technical issues and lack of time we wasn't able to finish the product in time which is acceptable because we will have chance to continue with it an make it  I am predicting it to go smoothly with out any complications the sound will most likely be obtained from the internet as it might be difficult to recreate some high quality audio but if we can't get good sound that we need from the internet we will have to make it on our own and use that instead it won't be ideal because it will be using the camera microphone and we will record the sound and the separate the sound from the image to use in the animation.

Looking at unis (Manchester)

our visit to Manchester we had a chance to look at different universities and ask questions about the courses i was interested in some of them had made me interested to go to take a better look at some of them and look through the hand out to have a read and a better understatement of the course. I m beginning to have a better view on uni and helps me decide if i want to go the best one that I got a chance to talk to would be the Manchester university there 3 year course plan was described really well how it would progress to on Illustration with animation course , It would introduce you to normal 2d animation to get the hang of animation basics then in year 2 your are moving doing 3d animation and in year3 you progress with that and find your specialisation and focus on something you really want  to do whatever it is 2D, 3D, illustration, concept, extra. I also got a opportunity to experience using VR (virtual realty) and draw in 3rd dimation which is amazing drawing 3d objects in the space in front of you sadly i didn't have too much time to play with it I think it can change design in the future.

visit in manche

I enjoyed the visit I liked all the cool art work that we seen there where all sorts of interesting paintings, drawings, sculptures, and other forms of art that we saw it in real life which is cool to see you can have a better look at the lines and how the paint flows. from the first gallery we went to we where asked to find two peaces of work to do feather investigation in to so like I said there was so much interesting an amazing art so one off art peaces would be some vases with Greek stile paintings of people and is cool to see how the are trying to persuade  some story of some sort kinda like a comic/story board It is in a way or it sparked the modern comics and I'm interested in visual story telling. The other one would be a big painting with goods on it but war was interesting about it is that it had a box with little squares that can be flipped and they tell you a little bit of information about a character I thought that it related with character creation and development, I selected them works because i think that it related to my area of interest and could use it to fuel my ideas and help me to create some important art work.

The museum of Manchester was interesting and had many cool exhibits I was interested in, I liked the old stone and wooden tools and all the different type of fibres and materials they had as well as i liked the bones of all sorts of animals even humans which was interesting to look at. it always interesting to see how art crafts have developed over the years of humanity I really enjoyed the experience.

A new area

We were told to keep developing our ideas and area of interest so I thought that a good step would be to move in to digital and make a new animation, I knew that creating a fool movement animation is extremely time consuming and it could take too long to make and we wont be able to finish it on time so i thought that a good experience and a good stile would be using minimal movement animation kinda like "War lords of dranor " witch I am a fan (it uses Machinima in game footage at first but later ti changes to a cool minimal movement animation with a grate details which does a grate job of telling story I like the way it tells the story and I think that it wold be a good way to tell a story, we had to continue our ideas of Utopia and as our previous animations was braking through dystopia to Utopia so we kinda did that again where there is a cycle between Utopia and dystopia. me and my class mate (Chloe) had began developing different characters and the story and the world I would be design and it ended up in a advanced technological and spiritual world the after we was happy with the development of the characters and environment we decided to create storyboard working on layout paper and graphics pens we worked between them creating the images colouring them and describing the frames and there actions.

a first sheat of first ideas and really quick development that had created the ruth out line of the story
we did decide that there will be a evil character so we did decide to create some horned character chloe took the enachanitive on this part and did well with it
some of the final designs
some possibilities` of the fashion in the universe we have created
the evil character came out looking cool and we both liked it

the design of the architecture we wanted it to be modern but more advanced technology using better materials and respect spirits the materials ale lighter and the the lights are neon and can be different colors
also did the design for some possible technology  and outfits that would be from tough material and would also be filed wit neon lights and convenient technological attachment

Did some design of characters and how they could be presented to the viewer we went for kind of future look to it with neon lights and interesting technology wail good people have green and blue lights the evil have  red lights it just helps to present how is bad or good. The fashion is little bit different than modern but its bit more wacky and the people can be more expressive have cool hair and tattoos.

started to work on the story board using the lay out paper and color markers making it ruth but still have a little bit of detail in it
the peaceful utopia is attacked by an evil and threatens the citizens but the are people willing to fight for good .
the main characters run to wards the evil and the use there advanced gadgets to get past the town.
after landing on the evil shoulder of the evil a tracking device is placed on his shoulder by the mail protagonist and falls but gets saved by the female protagonist as the space laser destroys the evil
they managed to defeat the evil and go back to there utopia as they smile at each other and the good spirits are rising over the world once again

now we will move in to digital work but there my be some problems with working at college sins the mac's don't have correct drivers for the drawing tablets so the pressure on them doesn't work correctly. so we might have to work around it and loose some options we would be able to achieve with the pressure simulation so it will be harder to create high quality images but we will just have to deal with it because the deadlines are creeping up

Agin with stop motion

After we had created the scribe we had decided to create another stop motion animation that would represent some of our ideas for making controversy's and how it is possible to escape them at first we thought to just make caricatures of people that are believing that there views on the word are good and not taking other people in to consideration so by doing some sketches and automatic drawings on the board we had stumbled up on a idea of creating monsters that would represent certain people and  actions. after a lite bit of designing we had created 8 monsters that we painted with water colours and made the outlines stronger with black marker then we cut them out we also had created a normal dude figure that had limbs that could move the were cut out separately and the late we used blu tack to make it less messy  and it helped to control. at first it was a bit automatic work but now we had moved on and we have to make it have meaning and reason think about composition mise-en-scene
ext so we had create a detailed story board we had decided to create a dude that runs pass all the monsters to get to the edge of the paper and rips through it in a playdoh form landing on real grass and having fun

to create the playdoh character i thought that using the the wired marionette that i made before  i thought that the joints in the marionette would help the character to move better but in ended up sabotaging it at the end because the where bending to easy also it the play do was way to heavy so by doing research i found that you should build the mass of the armature with a light material that could be taped to it and the covered in play do or oil clay so i used newspapers to build the mass and also to cover and strengthen the joints so it did help to reduce some weight but the character was still unstable so i think ill have to go back to idea of using stability wire that would go though the back of it and so it most likely be visible so will have to be smart with the camera angles
slowly build up he flesh with playdoh

so after all the planing we had decided to get to action and start animating an stop motion app was download to the phone and we used this bizarre chair and ruler set up to hold the phone in same position for each frame   the rest oh the work was kinda simple we just had to move the characters and keep taking pictures. we had created the part where the play do person goes through the paper by placing some Styrofoam under a cutting mat so the black paper can be placed on it and the white paper could go under so that the playdoh character could slowly appear as the paper one rips away in through the edge and then he had slide the wight and black paper so that its only white paper left and the character failing through it
it was our best option weans we have no phone stand (worked well)

the remains to the paper character
supporting block two worked well for a wood board but it was to big so we used cutting mat
which was smaller but more flexible so we needed an extra block

To help us to stabilise the phone when we would take it out side and have to do different angles we used styrofoam drawn around it and then cut it out with a blade (taking health and safety in to consideration) and then placed the phone inside the hole and it worked well and was well secured

the editing was simple just adding the sounds that we downloaded from the internet and the sounds we make on our own and  putting them in the correct area and adjusting the volume of it I tried to edit out couple mistakes that occurred in few of the frames that we didn't notice it until it was to late to change I thought I could be a simple fix but my editing skills aren't good enough yet.

It was extremely  stressful and hard to control the playdoh model I will have to work on making a better one, it kept  falling over even with the stabilisation wire inside of it still didn't cooperate well but it have given us experience and knowledge and can improve if we going to do it again main thing is to have a good set up and also make a working character that is able to move and keep balance so that it can be animated better.
