Stone totem

I had decided to create a totem out of stone a soft grey brick that was easy to carve in.I been using chisels to do so i had put a chisel against the stone and then hit it with a wooden hammer to chip of bit by bit of the stone to achieve the designed shape after i got that shape i applied a small amount of paint in some areas of the totem .I was aware of the hazards  and had worn safety  glasses to prevent any bits of stone fling in to my eyes i also worked next to the extraction fan and keep spraying water to prevent the dust from setting in my lungs. I was inspired by the Mayans, native American and African there culture had used to believe in spiritual creatures and super natural spirits and shown the story in totems and others similar pieces of art works. It also relates to DADA that is a very primitive form of surrealism that  is hard to explain and some times don't have any sense many of the tribes also had focused on visions and dreams that often were surreal. the spiritual dances and sining in the tribes had inspired Karwane by Hugo Ball ho was very innovative with art and shown different aspects of it. I decided to do two animals one of them was a ram that is always mad and protective of the territory  its strong and dangerous and the other animal is a cat siting on the head of the ram the cat is naughty and likes getting in to trouble and always runs to the rams head and laughs at the responsibilities. i think that it came out good but as it is a totem it has  small amount of details so it stays a totem and dos't become a sculpture or an statue. if i had to do it again i would do more designing to make sure what i am gonna come up with rather than doing it automatic I think that the strong parts of the totem is that its showing a story and is relating to DADA but the weak points is that its rough and un clean finish. but over all i am happy with it and think i did well.

different sizes of mallets for different impact smaller one is used to achieve more detail as the big one to get to a right shape

holding a chisel that way with the thumb  on the inside is incorrect as it is dangerous if you miss and can hit your self in the  thumb

this is better way of holding the chisel a bit safer

different tips of chisels for different details

I didn't used lots of paint to keep that ancient look to it and  and so it looks more primitive and  dos't look to realistic a

the souls of the animals are living with in the story as well as in the totem as they still are loyal friends

I think that it is important as it is a step of creation process and all parts of creation process must be completed in order to create the best product and make the best production. I can work around problems in original and creative ways that can show new light on a problem.I been working with a graphics tablet for a couple months and I am getting better with it and the software I believe that there are always ways that a person can improve  and make things better. Native American Totems & Their Meanings

The totems totems were representation of the people of the tribe it was shown what is the family like it is often carved out to be animals, ancestors  or mixture of a bits with a human all of thous were very supernatural figures that were carved out in the wood it it was carved our with knifes and chisels in wood and was rises in front of the house of the family or the tribe and it would last for 70-80 years until it starts to rot and brakes it remains un tucked until the family head dies the the new totem is created they showing a short story or a legend that is sired to the family or the tribe .

it links with the supernatural beings from the spirit world so it can relate to dada and be surreal with the human animals and deformed figures.

My name is Marcin Ordon i come from Poland and live in England.I am interested in sports  being active I like basketball and rugby I also like video games that are related to art and design. I am always interested with their stories and how it was made and created it is impressive and very interesting to me.I also like in animations I made some my self and I know how much work is put in to an animation it is time consuming and usually need to be don by more than one person if it is a long and very detailed animation.i also like to draw and be creative i am often inspired by ancient culture and the shamanistic rituals and totems. I like to make up my own characters I also like medieval times the armours and swords and other weapons which looked very nice and are  nice pieces of work truly a master pieces of art.

I live in Worksop and my  address is **** and my mobile phone number is ****  and my email is **** I am easy to get in contact with to give me any needed informations that is necessary to know.

During the course of Art And design I had obtain some new skills that are useful in art and design industry that can be used in a work place. I had created different pieces of work before making them I did research about the artists that had used similar styles and techniques that been used or invented by them. The work that I made include things such as a 2:00 min animation it is of amateur standard and could be improve in many ways. It is based on a topic of daydreams and it is talking animals fighting for dominance over the forest. I had used drawing tablet and photoshop to create the frames that where combined in aftereffects. The animationmaking (also made a DVD menu and other student's moving images). It is nothing special but i am proud of it as it is my first animation I  also did some work with 3d stuff such as creating casts out of a bottle that later i had merged to make a sword
3D Casts from the bottles. I also had created a brand logo design and a t shirt design that would be printed on a t shirt the design of the logo had to go thru some changes in order to be of the best quality T shirt paintingbrand logo designing,Designing I had enjoyed making them  it was challenging.I liked that it allowed me to express myself and show what I like and helped me to develop designing abilities. Also had made a poster and a card to prevent Cyber Bulling it was fun to make and it is also good to know that it links with helping people that been affected by cyber bulling. Poster and card

Gnoumou masks/pau masks

                                                                         MASKS

The Gnoumou masks are spiritual artefact's used in many different rituals in the tribe of Bua(?) that is an African tribe that are using thous mask on many occasions to ask the good spirits to watch their the families and to Honor their ancestors the dances were impressive as were the mask that were made out of wood and represented something different the mask had decorations that where secret patents know by the elders of the tribe the markings represent the aspects of live and super natural spirit world that the tribe must follow. this relates to DADA  the early stages of surrealism(Hugo Ball had created DADA work creations) that were very primitive and wild things that cant be explain in full detail as it connected with the mystical spirits.

Spiritual masks and other costumes where also used in different cultures in Asia the mask where repressing mystical creches dragons and devils as well as good spirits.

Dongo masks are very impressive ass well they were extremal tall and very creative they where used in dogon masquerade a spiritual dance.

what i am looking to do is to create a totem ore a mask that can relate to the spiritual world of the ancestors it is surreal because the faces on the totem are deformed and unproportional as well as they are simply made in wood and wood cant naturally have a face of a animal. I will use chisels to carve out the shape in a piece of wood.
