just a little gif

GIF

I had made this gif just to spit out this little idea i have for metamorphoses I did it using flash I created it with using the in between frames where I keep making the movement smother by drawing extra frames between the to frames that have a big movement between them and don't have clean movement. I had to use a gif making website to be able to up load it to blog with it playing it seams like it lost some quality because of that.

I could at color but I rater move  on and create more creative and encouraging animation/Gif relating metamorphoses.

metamorphosis

our next stage will be focusing on metamorphosis(change from one thing to other thing)also focused on the old mythology and the Ovid poem many of paintings (Titian) where created from the epic poem. we will be creating work for the audience

It seem like the image is using composition lines that are corresponding with features of different features of the characters with in the painting  the lines are crossing trough the faces of Diana and and her nymph and her other nymph body you can also see a diagonal line from the Diana and hunters faces. The shadows and the lights are also well presented to the eyes.

Diana story had been interpreted in paintings by Titian and the are telling a strong story when a young hunter had stumbled across her and her nymphs wail they were barfing naked that angered the Godes and she had turned him in to the dear that was eaten by his hounds the story is shown in 2 paintings.

There is also a 3rd painting about the Dian and how her nymph was forcibly impregnated by a diseased God Jupiter which brought shame Diana as her favourite nymph Callisto was no longer a virgin so she have decided to turn her in to a bear. There is lots of creations that can be fouled by the Greek and Roman mythology and transformation. You can also see the compositions it's on this paining line crossing through  the faces of the nymphs creating lined creating sort of upside down triangle in the mid of the composition

I took a look at different metamorphosis work as well to get a better idea of what I could create
It seems like in this Image there is a man changing in to a tree at least his legs had and it looks like he is walking on the roots a little bit like a crab on some sort of desert I like this image you can see the movement that he is preforming.I like the dark colours in this painting the are making it more mysterious and interesting .
A hand that is changing it to roots/ tree its a nice sketch with nice shading its interesting idea, I see how someone can see tree resembles in in a normal hand and how someone would come across that idea. This idea would also work well with the other way around where a tree is changing in to a hand .
This is a little bit more of a a illusion painting but you can see that it is morphing the landscape in to a mermaid from water  and a human from rocks I like this image it is showing how easy it is to trick your mind and show 2 images in one.
A cup becoming an giant octopus grabbing a ship from a painting this is done in 4 frames like a comic the idea is creative and original it could be simply animated with adding the frame between the main pictures and make it smooth
Its phone and headphones morphing in to a skull with Mexican line work on it its shown in 6 drawings it could be animated as well just to make the transformation more noticeable. I think there is to drastic change between the 3 and the 4 drawing the idea is creative tho .

digital

So creating the digital art is going ok could be better but going well i made some characters that have couple of poses that would cut to each other or have a quick fade between them to to have better impression of movement I think that the fade will have the best effect to but I will not Know until we move to using premiere pro.

I went with using no pressure brush on photoshop and made q  sketch of the character being messy with it using size 1 brush to get the form down and the sliding down the opatcy on the layer and go over the layer I went over it with size 3 brush slowly and neatly. I copied the out line and then fill color one of them  and made more layers in between to ad shading and the copy of the out line was on top so the line stay firm and visible then I did little fair movement after that I had put the line shading on tope of it to make it seem more dramatic the shading is hard to since the pressure dos not work properly.

On the main female protagonist I used the same way to create here but I decided to make the hair seperate from the body , it makes it easier to do If there is any hair that moves covering the body.

the images are good but could be better we will need to take more pictures to have better form of character and more natural poses however it can be archive some of the shots that we need but we will try we have some but we need more.
goes good so far we will need to finish the images and create and obtain some sound effects to better show the story and give better fead back to to the viewer timing the sound will be essential. have high hopes for this animation.

prerrafaelitas

The Prerrafaelits brotherhood was founded in 1848 by William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. there ware a group of painters from Britain   that where unappreciated by the critics.

William Holman Hunt

born London, 2 Apr. 1827: died London, 7 Sept. 1910
Was the only member of the Prerrafaelits that believed that his entire career remained faithful to the brotherhood aims which he summaries as finding serious and genuine ideas to express direct study from nature in disregards of all arbitrary rules and envisaging events as they myst have happened rather than in accordance with artistic conventions

John Everett Millais

Born Southampton, 8 June 1829: died London, 13 August 1896
He was also a book illustrator, a talented child who was working hard as well as he was naturally gifted. He became the youngest ever student at the royal academy schools when he was 11. he had suffered some temporary setbacks in his twenties but his career was essentially one of the victorian success stories. He had his share of abuse heaped agains the members of the Prerrafaelits until Ruskin stepped in as their champion

Donate Gabriel Rossetti

born London, 12 May 1828; died Birchington, nr. Margate, Kent, 9 Apr. 1882
was also a poet he came from amazing and talented family. His dad was an exiled Italian patriot, his sister Christina Rossetti was a poet and his brother William Michael Rossetti.Growing up in modest circumstances but strongly literary environment he at first found it hard to decide if he should devote himself to poetry or painting.

reserche for the utopia animation

We thought that a good source of inspiration would be manga as it has good art in them and is doing a good job at persuading  dramatic scenes one of the main features that we will be focusing on is using the line shading as its sutle but has a big impact on the image that's why we thought it would be good to include some thing like this in our clunky animation

A image from a popular manga. it has simple line shading that look good to me it makes the image be more appealing the image has also a good use of black and white.

Another image from that manga the lines help to indicate the intencensty of the situation the line shading is also good at showing the contrast between the lights and the darks which can further indicate the situation
Thanks to the dark lines tapering to the centre of the composition its  leading the audience to look to wards it and focuses there attention to it it's also making the image look dramatic
the shading can improve the translation of  characters emotion and the amount of the light in the scene

A good example of how shading can make a image stand out and how it can add detail to the image even if is just simple line shading you can tell how the one with out shading looks plane and not interesting and how the one with the most shading is standing out and there is lots more that can be seen.
again the line and the crosshatched shading is proving to work with setting the scene and make the image stand out more and be more interesting and just have more detail to it
through experience I have hound out that the line shading is working well with colour as it emphasise mote on the shape of the bone or object and the direction of the light

We planed to create a minimal animation I don't know if it is the correct term for it but b what it is is a clunky minimal movement animation more like a comic with sound and some movement I think that that kind of animation can be engaging as it should have some moving elements in every scene if it is beams of light, dust, characters, structures or anything ells that could be moving and it also helps to spark the viewer imagination. It will be some thing along the lines of some of thous examples

2 peaces of art from the visit

vase made by wedgwood about 1800

The vase was made in Wedgwood which was  founded Josiah Wedgwood how was look down on by his family and was stopped from contributing to family business. The pottery was one of the most successful potteries. That made different types of vases using newer materials to make vases in stile of greek vases with greek myths images on the vases it dos seems to be telling a story thats why I decided to pike it to look in to it more as I think that it relates to comics in that matter that it presents some kind of scenario and I am interested in visual story telling and I think that because it is a vase it brings more attention. It would be nice to create something based to that type of vases i could make a vase out of clay bay shaping it with hands as  I don't have access to a (spin while?) equipment that would be used to make vases and after that i could paint it and also i could paint the characters on it but i think that would make them seem flat so i would rather carve them out I think that it could create some interesting art.The other idea I have from it would be making a comic with using vase drawings as cells and have it on a big scale and make it have a greek stile.

Hansom cab at saints
Adolphe Valette

a a scene of a hansom crab parked at Grosvenor square on Oxford Road in manchester. It is painted by Adolphe Valette in 1910 and the view is from Oxford road, facing west where a horse and cab dominate the centre of the composition a white horse is being fead from a nosebag as it rest and it has a blanket over its back. there is also some people around just doing casual things. I like the painting because of the stile it has I like how it has a slightly distorted/dissolved look to it and it ruth details that looks really good in my opinion.I could use that kind of stile for a animation or a comic thanks to it small amount of details it can be faster to create frames that are messy but are looking good.

producing the animation problems

when we were producing our animation we have run to one problem mainly the technical issues and lack of time we wasn't able to finish the product in time which is acceptable because we will have chance to continue with it an make it  I am predicting it to go smoothly with out any complications the sound will most likely be obtained from the internet as it might be difficult to recreate some high quality audio but if we can't get good sound that we need from the internet we will have to make it on our own and use that instead it won't be ideal because it will be using the camera microphone and we will record the sound and the separate the sound from the image to use in the animation.

Looking at unis (Manchester)

our visit to Manchester we had a chance to look at different universities and ask questions about the courses i was interested in some of them had made me interested to go to take a better look at some of them and look through the hand out to have a read and a better understatement of the course. I m beginning to have a better view on uni and helps me decide if i want to go the best one that I got a chance to talk to would be the Manchester university there 3 year course plan was described really well how it would progress to on Illustration with animation course , It would introduce you to normal 2d animation to get the hang of animation basics then in year 2 your are moving doing 3d animation and in year3 you progress with that and find your specialisation and focus on something you really want  to do whatever it is 2D, 3D, illustration, concept, extra. I also got a opportunity to experience using VR (virtual realty) and draw in 3rd dimation which is amazing drawing 3d objects in the space in front of you sadly i didn't have too much time to play with it I think it can change design in the future.

visit in manche

I enjoyed the visit I liked all the cool art work that we seen there where all sorts of interesting paintings, drawings, sculptures, and other forms of art that we saw it in real life which is cool to see you can have a better look at the lines and how the paint flows. from the first gallery we went to we where asked to find two peaces of work to do feather investigation in to so like I said there was so much interesting an amazing art so one off art peaces would be some vases with Greek stile paintings of people and is cool to see how the are trying to persuade  some story of some sort kinda like a comic/story board It is in a way or it sparked the modern comics and I'm interested in visual story telling. The other one would be a big painting with goods on it but war was interesting about it is that it had a box with little squares that can be flipped and they tell you a little bit of information about a character I thought that it related with character creation and development, I selected them works because i think that it related to my area of interest and could use it to fuel my ideas and help me to create some important art work.

The museum of Manchester was interesting and had many cool exhibits I was interested in, I liked the old stone and wooden tools and all the different type of fibres and materials they had as well as i liked the bones of all sorts of animals even humans which was interesting to look at. it always interesting to see how art crafts have developed over the years of humanity I really enjoyed the experience.
