post box development

I got brief to do a design on a post box that would be representing our town area and people in it and we work in randomly generated groups to create some good designs

The 'Scream' painting
We tried to base our work around the screaming painting to make different tips of people around the post box in that deformed faces stile but it didn't work well.

After trying out some designs and creating some work sheets I with my team had did some recherche to strengthen our ideas so we began with some recherche in to 60's/70's art to adapt some of the stile such as the bright colors and the interesting surroundings.

A cool, 70's like looking design with
the colours, patterns and font used
This one is interesting and cool to see making the lines around the face look like hair and that it is actually a part of the face is a good idea that can be used on the design of making a post box wrap that might be used in our design but certainly with brighter colors than that that are more eye catching.
Another 70's like looking design with the
kinds of patterns and font used
This one is much more simple design of the human form more realistic in a way but the colors are much brighter and interesting more appealing and interesting make the picture be more alive might use similar colors in the design.

An example of symmetrical 'Art Deco', the patterns repeating
on both sides of the design
I did more recherche in to that kind of stuff that didn't really lead me to and specific idea or area i could work on  but our team had come across art deco that seamed like the right thing  I liked it it was interesting and had shown potential it has many different patents and straight standing out lines that looked very interesting.

Multiple examples of different kinds of designs and patterns
that are commonly used in art deco
As you can see this stile as many different patent that can be used to simplify objects but still make them look appealing and interesting to see its nice and impressive to see and look at it it was a step in a right direction.

A professional, poster looking design of an art deco
design
This is a design that driven the flow of ideas because it represent a building and I thought  that that could be used with specific key constructions in my town main to being cinema and a buss stop and a triangle structure down the down.

A design with an ancient and stone
looking effect
This is also a nice image with nice colors and nice composition of many line but however it seams like it has not enough out line that i would like to use in my design but might experiment with that kind of stile as well The image could be reflected and there could be many different combinations of buildings lay out.

Postbox

An overall screenshot of my work when I was making a postbox
design inspired by art deco
An overall screenshot of my work as I was making and developing
the design on one side of the postbox layout
After the process of generating ideas we as a  group  had decided that taking influence from "art deco" would be the best option so we had did different scotches of the design that would have to resembles "Worksop" town.
Another overall screenshot of my further developed designs
with colour and gradient effects

We did different designs with different specific buildings and the layout of them the we selected the best ones and develop them more in illustrator to get more define and slick looking lines and so we could easily experiment with colors.
The design I was using and trying different colours and gradient
effects out on
So each member of our group took a different design to complete it on the illustrator so we can print it and form it in to a oval to compare them all and get an idea of how they would look on a post box so we can compare them and see which is the best one or if to make a new design.

The designs were made with a pen tool to make the lines and the convert tool to make them have curves (on Illustrator) then after completing one side of the design I copied it and reflected it and placed it in the right place. the i used fill bucket to fill the space with color to use the paint bucket in illustrator you have to select all of the image and the choose the fill bucket tool and chose color then you click on the area you want to color.I Tried out many different combinations of color to find the best option.
A mix of light and dark blue on the design
The design with an overall blue fill but the lines have
a dark blue and white gradient effect
Blue, grey, white red and orange used in this version
of the design with gradient effect on the fills and lines
Mainly greys, white, blues and reds in this design with
gradient effects on the lines and some fills
I changed some gradient effects on some fills and changed
some colours on the railing by the bottom of the design
A mainly yellow background fill with a white and grey
gradient effect on the lines
A black background fill with light blue lines and some
gradient effect on the triangle statue part of the design
A red background with black fills of the design with the
warm colours of yellow, orange and some red gradient
effects on the lines
A mix of colours, red, purple and blue fills with white and
grey gradient lines
A comparison of two of my designs I had done, one being a range
of the colour red with black lines, while the other is a mix of many
colours with black lines aswell

A screenshot of multiple kinds of designs I had done, all different
from each other as I try out new colours and gradients on each of them
An overall bronze gradient design, giving a 'copper'
kind of look
A green background and fill with a white and gold
gradient effect on the lines
A different design I tried out with a simple dark grey
background and red lines
A gradient background of green and blue with dark blue
line with gradient fills of yellow, blue and green
A version of the design without lines with a silver
looking effect, using a white and light grey gradient effect
A black background and fill with a white and golden
gradient effect on the line
The design with a mix of black and light blue lines with
black and blue fills
A plain white background with red lines
A range of different shades of red on the design
with black lines
A range of different colours in the design with black lines
A gold looking effect with the use of a gradient background
and fill of white and gold (orange/yellow) with black lines
Gradient background and fill of white, grey and black
with white and black gradient lines
A metal looking effect of the design with the use of black
lines, dark muddy looking brown, yellow and red gradient
effect on the background and fill
I tried out a different technique and filled in a pattern of
red into the design with the other colours around it of
orange and very light brown
A design with yellow background with dark green
and peach coloured fill with white and grey gradient lines
The same design but with the gradient lines instead
just being black solid lines
A dark purple background and fill with white and golden
orange gradient effect on the lines
The same design but with a different shade of purple
A gradient background and fill of blood orange, light yellow
and blackish brown with black lines
An overall screenshot of my work when I was trying out different
colours and palets for my design
Gradient background and fill of yellow and green with
a dark green/blue line
Solid background of a light blue with fills of different
shades of yellow and green and white
